At Maleme there are several opportunities for safe learning of some sports like: scuba diving, sea ski, banana, sea parachute, wind surfing, sailing etc. You can also visit the nearby “Limnoupoli” water park.
At Maleme you can ride safely as a part of an equestrian group.
Chania air club has rich activities. This moment has 4 planes, operator school and with a perspective of using Malemes’ airport, gliders, parachutes, planes, and hyper light planes will be your new options of sports.
Chania prefecture offers lots of activities for those who want to explore these pure and untouched surroundings.
You can spend great times at the great and rare beauty Samarias canyon. This is the biggest canyon in Europe. Its size exceeds 18 km length and 300 meters wide. There it rests the one kind in the world Cretan Aigagros and several other endemic species.
Another appreciable canyon with rich flora and fauna is Ag.Eirinis. It is extended from Agia Eirini to Selinou of Chania and to Sougia (Libyan ocean).
Speleologists have registered 1503 caves before 1999 only in Chania prefecture!
Near Melidoni village at Atzines Leukon Oreon locality, Apokoronou province , was discovered the deepest cave in Europe in 1900 , and explored later in 1998, named Gourgouthakas with depth 1208!

- Samonas on mountainous Apokorona with stalactites and stalagmites.
- Arkoudospilios and the cave of Agios Ioannis near Gouvernetou Abbey on Akrotiri.
- The Kouroupidou cave on Kokkino Horio Apokoronou.
- Drakolakkoi locality Anopolis-Aradainas Sfakion.
- Spilios Tzani on Omalo
